ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said on Monday that he had conveyed to the United States that they can provide the intelligence but only Pakistan Army will conduct operations against militants.
In his interview with Nadeem Malik Live, Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan Army had the capability to conduct successful operations across the country on its own.
"My statement regarding joint operations was twisted in the media," he said. "I told USA that you provide intelligence, our armed forces will carry out the operation," he added.
Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan Army had successfully wiped out militants during the past four years hence it would conduct operations in its own territory.
"Our army delivered on the National Action Plan and continues to do so," he said.
Among those who had criticised Khawaja Asif's statement on joint military operations was also former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, who had termed it as an insult to the country.
Nisar had stated that no sovereign country allows any other army in the world to conduct operations on its soil.
