Jua commander Omar Khalid Korasani killed in drone strike

PESHAWAR: Banned terrorist organization Jamaatul Ahrar (JuA) commander Omar Khalid Korasani along with his nine accomplice was killed in US drone strike along the mountainous Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Paktia.

Omar Khalid Korasani was injured in yesterday’s US drone strike.

He was wanted in Pakistan for his involvement in several terrorist activities.

The Taliban claim comes a day after six suspected TTP militants were killed in a US drone strike targeting alleged militant hideouts in the Pak-Afghan border region close to Kurram Agency.

Umar Mansoor, who had claimed responsibility for a deadly attack on Bacha Khan University in 2016, was said to be the mastermind of the 2014 massacre at the Army Public School in Peshawar where at least 144 people, mostly children, were brutally murdered by the heavily-armed attackers.

Earlier, two suspected US drone strikes killed 31 people on the mountainous Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The attacks came days after a Canadian-American couple held hostage by the Taliban were freed from the area in Pakistan’s northwest, striking a rare positive note in the country’s often-fraught relations with the United States.
