It was not a nuclear test in the Sea of Japan: Pentagon

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck off North Korea in the Sea of Japan on Thursday, the US Geological Survey said.

The quake was very deep, 560 kilometres below the seabed, and unlikely to cause any damage. Its epicentre was 201 kilometres south-east of the North Korean city of Chongjin.

In addition, a Pentagon spokesperson talking in the context of this earthquake said initial indications, based on the depth and location, show it was not a consequence of a nuclear test.
