Indian Politician arrested on Rape Charges

NEW DELHI: Indian Congress MLA M Vinvent has been arrested on the charge of rape based on a statement given by a 51-year-old woman, who attempted suicide in Thiruvananthapuram's Balaramapuram are after she was allegedly harassed by him, the Kerala Police said on Saturday.
Before being arrested, Vincent, a first-time legislator, was grilled for over two hours by a team of police. He was later taken for further interrogation.
The police team arrived at the legislator's hostel here around 12.40 p.m. and left after more than two hours of questioning.
