ISLAMABAD, Jun 18 (APP): Indian Occupied Kashmir Home Ministry releases one year arrests data

 

Almost eight hundred people in occupied Kashmir were arrested in the territory during last one year and 133 among those were booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act.

 

This was disclosed by the Home Ministry of the territory in a written reply to the so-called Kashmir Assembly. The reply said that 799 persons of various age groups were arrested on different charges from January 2015 to January 2016.

 

Of the arrested persons, 377 were rounded up in Srinagar, followed by Shopian with 122, Pulwama 89, Islamabad 86, Baramulla 70, Kupwara 34, Ganderbal 22, Budgam 15, Kulgam 13 and Bandipora 10.In Jammu region, only one arrest took place during this period, the home ministry revealed, Kashmir Media service reported.

 

Pertinently, the occupied Kashmir is under PDP-BJP rule since March 1, 2015, before witnessing a spell of Governor's Rule for three months.

 

The occupation authorities have imposed curbs on the political activities of pro-freedom leaders and organizations and whenever they try to conduct programmes, Hurriyet leaders and activists are arrested and put behind the bars.

 

The puppet administration in another reply said that there were 2,394 prisoners lodged in 14 jails in the territory and 1929 of them were under- trials.

 

In yet another reply, the puppet administration disclosed that a so- called minister and senior leader of BJP, AG Kohli, and former minister and senior Congress leader, Taj Mohiuddin, were among those who were illegally occupying forest land in the territory.
