Indian Congress Vice President rapes domestic maid

NEW DELHI - A woman working as a domestic help at a Congress MP’s residence in New Delhi has accused Haryana Congress vice-president Subhash Chaudhary of rape, according to police.

The woman has said she was assaulted by Chaudhary thrice between September 15 and 23, 2015 — a period when the Rajya Sabha member was away.

Chaudhary, who headed the party’s youth wing in early 1980’s, was unreachable for a comment but his mother told HT over a phone call that the woman was trying to blackmail her son.

HT is withholding the identity of the parliamentarian since attempts to contact her failed.

“We have so far not arrested the accused. The investigation is on. It is a sensitive matter. I cannot divulge whether we have summoned the accused for questioning or not,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) BK Singh told HT.

According to the woman’s complaint at the Tughlaq Road police station, Chaudhary offered to buy a piece of land worth Rs 25 lakh that she owned in Telangana. The woman said Chaudhary sent his relative, Sewa Chaudhary, who allegedly got thumb impressions of her mother on land papers without paying any money.
