Indian Army thrashes Kashmir Police officers, FIR registered against Army personnel

New Delhi: At least eight policemen including an Assistant Sub-Inspector, were injured after soldiers beat them up for allegedly stopping their vehicle at a check-post in Kashmir on Friday late night.

The incident took place in the Gund area of J&K's Ganderbal district.

As per reports, as many as 32 soldiers of 24RR shoved into a police station and thrashed the police personnel on duty.

"Two of them have received grievous injuries," said a police official.

According to him, some private vehicles carrying army personnel of 24 RR were stopped in Gund area when they were on their way to Amarnath yatra.

The Army men were travelling beyond the cut off time of 2pm for the vehicles to pass, said reports.

"When the police party deployed in Sonamarg tried to stop them for going ahead they beat them before moving to Gund village," said the official. 

"The army men got down from the vehicles and roughed up the policemen on duty," he added. 

The policemen, however, were saved by locals.

Reportedly, Sonamarg Police and Gund Police station have registered FIRs against the army personnel.

An enquiry has been ordered into the incident, India.com quoted SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmed Lone as saying. - Zee News
