Indian Army soldier killed at LoC in retaliation by Pakistan Army fire

NEW DELHI - An Indian army jawan was killed in retaliation by Pakistan Rangers over a ceasefire violation by Indian troops along the Line of Control in Keran sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said on Wednesday.

A police spokesman in Srinagar confirmed the death, but did not identify the slain soldier.

A police official told HT that the army man was injured in the ceasefire violation in the morning. “He was rushed to hospital but died on way,” he said.

An army official said “necessary and adequate” response has been given to the Pakistani firing.

The incident in Keran comes after continuous firing from Indian side in Arnia sector of Jammu division for the past many days, officials said.
