Indian Army Major rewarded for the brave act of counter insurgency in IOK

NEW DELHI: Indian Army Major who tied the protesting Kashmiri student in front of his jeep and roamed for hours on the streets of Indian Occupied Kashmir has been rewarded by Indian Army Chief for his act of bravery.
The Indian army has honored for one its officers who who had tied a Kashmiri youth in front of a jeep in April as a human shield during a protest, according to local media reports .
Major Nitin Leetul Gogoi of 53 Rashtriya Rifles was awarded COAS (Chief of Army Staff) commendation for sustained efforts in counter-insurgency operations by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat during his recent visit to occupied Kashmir.
Street protests flared in recent weeks as thousands of Kashmiris vented anger against abuses by Indian forces after the a video emerged of the incident.

Rawal, a ruling party lawmaker, tweeted “"Instead of tying stone pelter on the army jeep tie up Arundhati Roy!"
