India will not withdraw Army troops from Siachen: Defence Minister Manohar Parikar

NEW DELHI: Indian Defence Minister claimed that India will not withdraw its troops from Siachen as deployment is needed for national security.
10 Indian soldiers buried alive in an avalanche in Siachen recently was termed as painful by Indian Defence Minister.
He said that turning Siachen into a peace mountain is nice idea but withdrawing troops from Siachen is not a solution.
He claimed that we lost thousands of soldiers to get control over Siachen and the loss had come down due to improved facilities in recent years.
Siachen is a 6,000 meters high battle field between Pakistan and India and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh suggested to convert it into “Peace Mountain” in 2005.
140 Pakistan Army soldiers were also died by hitting of an avalanche in April 2012.
