Immediate merger of FATA with KP is in supreme national interest of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – The government has accepted the protesters’ demand to merge the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.

The government has formed a committee to merge the FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The committee will submit a report to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

Earlier, the police resorted to aerial firing to disperse the tribal people protesting against the delay in the imposition of FATA reforms.

The protesters belonging to different agencies, PTI and ANP leaders gathered at D Chowk and chanted slogans in favor of their demand. They staged a sit-in and said that they would not go home without getting their right.

ANP leader Ghulam Ahmed Bilour also joined the protest.

On the other hand, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that the people protesting for the FATA did not belong to the FATA. “The government will have to take the decision on the FATA sagaciously. Everyone is posing himself to be the owner of the FATA,” he added.

Meanwhile, demonstrations were also staged against a delay in the FATA reforms outside the Karachi and Lahore press clubs. ANP leaders also participated in the demonstrations.
