IHC rejects Nawaz Sharif plea

ISLAMABAD  – The Islamabad High Court has rejected Nawaz Sharif’s plea seeking the merger of three references on Tuesday.

The court also issued notices to the Federation and the NAB before adjourning the hearing until Monday. The court also rejected the plea to stop the proceedings on Wednesday.

Justice Amir Farooq asked Azam Nazir Tarar, counsel for Nawaz Sharif, what kind of relief has been sought in the application filed in the Supreme Court.

The counsel stated that they have sought a vast relief in the SC plea – to file a reference. He said that Evenfield Properties reference could be tried separately against Nawaz Sharif.

He said that six out of total nine witnesses are common in the Flagship Investment and Al-Azizia Steel Mills references.

“We will be satisfied if two references are merged,” he stated.
