Hurriyet leaders hail Turkish President’s statement on Kashmir dispute

ISLAMABAD: Hurriyet leaders have welcomed the statement of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in which he expressed his willingness to play a role in resolving the Kashmir dispute.

According to KMS, rhe Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in his statement hoped that Tayyip Erdogan, who is on a visit to India, would make efforts to end the political uncertainly prevalent in the region since decades."Turkey being an important Islamic country and having cordial relations with both India and Pakistan will hopefully make efforts to end the political uncertainly prevalent in the region since decades," the Mirwaiz said.

The Hurriyet leader said, "The Turkish President is well aware that how Kashmir dispute is the main source of tension between the two nations." He said, "Being an active member of Kashmir Contact Group at OIC, Turkey has always advocated the solution of Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir and Ankara can play a vital role in the resolution of this issue to end the tension in this region."

Senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement while hailing the statements of Turkish President and Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Kashmir expressed hope that the international commqhis regard. "We welcome the suggestion of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Kashmir is a longstanding dispute which is a bone of contention between two nuclear neigbouring nations. India has been unleashing the state-sponsored terrorism in the disputed state," he said. Shabbir Shah termed the concern shown by Mr Erdogan on bloodshed in Kashmir a positive development. (APP)
