Huge rally by JI in Islamabad denouncing US on Syed Salahuddin ban

A rally was held in Islamabad on Sunday to express solidarity with Kashmiris and to protest against the US announcement declaring Syed Salahuddin as terrorist.

Addressing the participants, speakers of the Jamaat-e-Islami-led rally said that India is committing atrocities against Kashmiris to suppress their indigenous struggle to attain the right to self-determination. They urged the international community to take notice of the grave human rights violations in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.

The speakers also denounced United States for placing the name of Kashmiri leader Syed Salahuddin on global terrorists' list. They said Kashmir's independence struggle should not be equated with terrorism as the people of the state have been promised plebiscite, giving them an opportunity to decide their faith, as enshrined in the UN Resolutions.

They said Kashmir is a disputed territory, according to the UN Security Council's resolutions, and its future will be decided by the people of the State through a UN sponsored plebiscite.
