How SECP tempered record in favour of Sharif family

The FIA team has submitted report in the apex court, in which it declared SECP Executive Director Ali Azeem Ikramand Director Maheen Fatima guilty for negligence.

The investigation team also recommended a departmental level action against both the officers.

The report stated that SECP chairman Zafari Hijazi pressurized his subordinates for tampering in the record. Maheen, who was the officer assigned to the money laundering case involving the Chaudhry Sugar Mills, said Zafar Hijazi pressurized her to give statement against the JIT.

The inquiry team recorded the statement of 12 officers including SECP chairman.

The FIA stated in its report that the orders to close the Chaudhry Sugar Mills inquiry files were give on June 29 and 30 2016 and file was open until June 2016 and the SECP chairman directed to immediately put a backdated note in the file to confirm the investigation was closed in 2013.

The inquiry team recommended criminal action against Zafar Hijazi under Section  466, 472, PPC read with 5(2) Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) 1947.
