Heavy rains, hail storms hit Karachi

KARACHI: Scattered rain coupled with hailstorm and strong winds made weather chilly on Monday with experts forecasting more intermittent rains during the next couple of days.
It was an usual day for Karachi with bright sun but during the night, suddenly the sky covered with clouds that exploded with thunder and lightning. After some time, rain poured with enormous drops that mildly flooded the roads due to lashing downpours. Hail along with rain came as a surprise, this year it has hailed in Karachi after many years.
Rains, hailstorm, continuously blowing winds and overcast conditions, however, made the weather cold by causing considerable decrease in the mercury level.
People came out of their houses in the evening to enjoy pleasant weather after the rainfall and hailstorm.
Among the areas which received showers are Defence, Clifton, North Karachi, Orangi Town, Saeedabad, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Nazimabad, Lyari, and Malir.
The local meteorological department has forecast cloudy weather with chances of intermittent rains for Karachi today.
On the other hand, following the rainfall, more than 200 feeders of K-Electric tripped, disrupting the supply of electricity to many areas.
