Hamza Shahbaz against clash with Army, won't mind becoming CM Punjab

KARACHI: Speaking in regards to his uncle and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s reaction to being ousted after the Supreme Court’s judgment, Hamza Shahbaz has said no matter what the circumstances are, one should not clash with institutions.
“Even I have spent time behind bars,” he said while speaking on Geo News show Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath. “But Rangers, Army and all other institutions are our own and we all should work together.”
He said it is necessary to work in harmony with the country’s institutions for democracy to flourish. Hamza added they — he and his father Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif — will soon “convince Nawaz and his daughter Maryam of their point of view”.
Hamza also commended Maryam’s efforts for NA-120 by-elections, for which he was to campaign but went abroad. Following Hamza’s departure, Maryam took charge and extensively campaigned for her mother Kulsoom Nawaz who was fielded as PML-N’s candidate.On his terms with Maryam, Hamza said she is his elder sister whom he has grown up with, but believes that on a political level everyone has the right to have different points of view.
About his role in the PML-N and the country’s politics, Hamza said he has been there as a worker of the party since nearly the past decade. But when asked if he would want to be made Punjab’s chief minister if his father Shehbaz moves to the centre, Hamza said he would not mind if people vote him into power.
