Green Pakistan Programme initiated with Rs. 2 billions

ISLAMABAD: Rs. 2 billion for “Green Pakistan Programme” have been approved by PM Nawaz in order to revive forestry and wildlife in Pakistan while GPP Project is going to be launched in July.

As per details, this amount has been approved by PM Nawaz for next two fiscal years under 5 year Green Pakistan Programme of climate Change Ministry for launching the forest and wildlife protection and conservation programme of national significance.

1 billion has been allocated for this programme in next fiscal year budget and work would be initiated on the project next month in July.

Deputy Inspector General Forest Pakistan said in his media briefing that this project has been designed on the special directives of Prime Minister Nawaz while 105 million trees would be planted in entire country within 5 years under this programme.

He further added that local kinds of trees on urban and rural areas, roads and irrigation sources would be planted under this progamme. The project would be initiated with the collaboration of all provinces and letters would be written to Chief Ministers by Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid in this regard.
