Govt making efforts to upgrade railways system: Kh Saad

LAHORE: (APP) Federal Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Tuesday that efforts were being made to further upgrade Pakistan railways.

Addressing a meeting here at railway headquarters, he said that railways was inviting different national and international organizations for the revival of rail network besides its development.

The Pakistan Railways was offering to invest on a rail track more than 5500 kilometre, he added.

"We want to lay 107 KM new track from Murree to Muzaffarabad and want to connect Gwadar, Turbat, Khushab, Panjgur, Basima, Sohrab and Mastung", he added.

"We also want track in Dera Ismail Khan, Kotla Jam and Zhob", he said.

Saad Rafique said, "We want to upgrade Wazirabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Shahdara tracks besides the track between Kotri and Attock.

If the development work in the department continue with the same pace, the Pakistan railways would revive with a rapidly, he added.

The minister lauded railway officers who worked with him day and night to bring improvement in the department.
