General Elections 2018 to be held on existing constituencies: ECP

A high level meeting of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was held in Islamabad on Wednesday with Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Muhammad Khan in the chair.

Chief Census Commissioner Asif Bajwa briefed the meeting that census process has been completed across the country and data entry is underway.

He said final reports of the census will be published by April next year while provisional data can be provided by next month.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Election Commissioner said that the ECP is unable to start delimitation process till the final and verified census data is provided.

Sardar Raza Khan said that at least seven months are required for completion of the delimitation process.

The Chief Election Commissioner said under such circumstances ECP is compelled to hold next general elections on the existing delimitations
