Forensic Digital Science Center established

KARACHI (APP): Karachi University (KU) has taken a lead in research as well as academic activities. This was stated by Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan on Tuesday.

He said that Karachi University is the identity and symbol of our mega city as its students have contributed immensely in every field of life whether science, arts or computer science.

The Governor was addressing the inauguration ceremony of Centre for Digital Forensic Science and Technology (CDFST) at Karachi University campus.

Advisor to Governor Sindh on Higher Education Syed Wajahat Ali,Deputy Director General Pakistan Rangers Sindh Brig. Azhar, Director General NAB Sindh Col (R) Siraj Naeem, renowned industrialist Sardar Yasin Malik, Chief CPLC Zubair Habib, Vice Chancellor Karachi University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaisar and faculty members were also present on the occasion.

Governor Sindh said that Karachi University has always taken lead in the field of research along with imparting quality education to its students. It has distinguished itself with research and quality education even in various new sectors which has made University of Karachi a prominent learning institution of our country, he observed.

Dr. Ebad said that this first ever centre in the field of forensic digital science would definitely be playing its role as one of the paving components for rule of law. It will play an important role in the criminal justice system by providing digital evidences ensuring technical training to the officers of law enforcement agencies and thus helping the judiciary for speedy justice.

He said that constitution guarantees all fundamental rights to every citizen equally and everyone has a right to have access to justice including accused. This centre would cover and follow all relevant laws e.g. prevention of electronic crime evidence ordinance 2007, investigation for fair trial act 2012, cyber crime law (in the process of making) and also adopt any future legislation as well.

He said that this centre would be another distinguished institutes of Karachi University and continue the marvelous, traditions of this great university as dedicated, highly qualified, professional faculty members and digital forensic experts are being arranged for training of students.

The Governor assured full cooperation for making this centre a state-of-the-art institute for the benefit of all stakeholders.

He congratulated Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaisar for establishment of this centre and hoped that it would fulfill all the expectations.

Meanwhile, Governor Sindh also spoke with the mediamen on the occasion and said that Karachi Operation is against terrorists and criminals and it would continue without any discrimination and till its logical end.

The recovery of son of Chief Justice of Sindh High Court is a great news for the nation and it reflects the devoted and dedicated efforts of Law Enforcement Agencies, he opined.

Vice Chancellor Karachi University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qaisar while speaking at the inauguration ceremony said that it was the idea of Governor Sindh to establish such a centre and he extended all possible help in this regard. It would conduct under-graduate, graduate and post-graduate level courses, he added.

Prof. Qaisar further said that it would also provide job opportunities in forensic digital science and technology. It has been decided to name this centre after Governor Sindh and it would be approved in the next syndicate meeting, he concluded.
