Federal Cabinet Meeting in Islamabad: Important Decisions made by PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that Pakistan wants peace to pursue its development agenda but every Pakistani is ready to defend the motherland.

He was addressing special meeting of the cabinet held in Islamabad on Friday to discuss the latest situation on the Line of Control and Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir.

The Prime Minister declared that the entire nation stands should to shoulder with armed forces and we would not allow anyone to cast an evil eye on Pakistan.

He emphasized that Kashmir is unfinished agenda of partition of sub-continent.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan wants to focus its energies on welfare of the people. The Government is resolved to achieve the destination of progress and prosperity of the people and elimination of poverty and unemployment. For this, Pakistan wants peace in the region.

The Prime Minister said India's continued brutalities in Occupied Kashmir and aggression are unacceptable.

US urges Pakistan, India to avoid escalation on LOC

In their remarks before the meeting, members of the cabinet reiterated resolve of the government to defend the motherland at all costs.

Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said support to the just struggle of the Kashmiri people would remain priority of Pakistan and it would not back down on this account.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif reiterated that Pakistan does not want escalation of tension but is ready to meet any eventuality. He said Pakistan would respond befittingly to any firing by India across the Line of Control.

The Prime Minister said that the Indian aggression poses a serious threat to the regional peace and security. He said the leadership and people of Pakistan are united in their resolve to counter any aggressive Indian designs.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Pakistan’s commitment for peace must not be construed as weakness. In case of any aggression or violation of LoC, Pakistan will take all necessary steps to protect its people and territorial integrity.

The Cabinet joined the Prime Minister in completely rejecting the Indian claims of carrying out “surgical strikes”. The Indian Occupation forces had resorted to unprovoked firing on the LoC in complete violation of India’s commitments under bilateral arrangements as well as international law.

The Cabinet praised the brave and valiant Jawans of the armed forces of Pakistan for their befitting response to the Indian aggression.

The Cabinet also offered fateha on the shahadat of two armed forces personnel and expressed sympathy to their families on this irreparable loss.

The Cabinet expressed deep concern over the continued killings and grave human rights violations in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The Cabinet reiterated Pakistan’s call for free, fair, and impartial investigation into the killings of innocent civilians, under the UN auspices.
