Father sentenced to 4 months in jail failing to produce wanted son in court

ISLAMABAD: A court in Srinagar sentenced, in occupied Kashmir, the father of a juvenile to four months in prison for failing to produce his son, who is on a run to escape hunt by police.

According to Kashmir Meia Service, chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar issued the order after the juvenile remained absent from hearings. The juvenile is wanted to police on charges of stone- pelting. The police have filed a false case against him at Police Station Maharaj Gunj in Srinagar.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar sent the father, Shabbir Ahmad Khan, to jail as he was unable to produce his son for hearings.

The court also sought school records for ascertaining the age of the juvenile and directed the principal of Vasanta High School in Kral Khud, where the juvenile studied, to produce relevant records on April 27 to verify his age. The court has sought verification of the boy's age to conclude the enquiry.

Shabbir Ahmad Khan appeared in court on February 17 and was directed to produce his son, the failure drew the wrath of the court and he was, therefore, sent to jail. (APP)
