Faisalabad to be made environment friendly city: PHA

FAISALABAD: (APP) Vice Chairman Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Haji Khalid Saeed MPA on Wednesday said that a comprehensive and long term strategy to make Faisalabad lush green, beautiful and environment friendly city, will be finalized in consultation with Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) and civil society within a period of one month.
Addressing the members of FCCI here, he said that a detailed survey of the city roads has already been started to decide the suitable plants and trees for that particular area.
He said that the core objective of PHA is to arrest environmental pollution and control the increasing temperature in the city.
He said that extensive tree plantation is the only available solution and this task will be accomplished by involving all segments of society in addition to giving them the sense of ownership in this task.
He said that a proposal is under consideration to give PHA employees special caps for their identification, adding, "It will help the administration to effectively monitor their presence, performance and activities."
He further said that a special committee comprising of various allied departments including Solid Waste Management, Environment, Health and WASA etc. would also be constituted and its meetings would be held regularly to monitor the progress and targets fixed for its employees.
He said that philanthropists of Faisalabad have always played an important role for the beautification and uplift of the city and hoped that they will continue cooperation with PHA to make this city beautiful and lush green.
Earlier, President FCCI Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz underlined the importance of tree plantation and said that urban needs are quite different from the rural plantation and in this connection, selection of plants are most important to make environment pleasant.
