Elder sister kills younger sister in Karachi with help of her fiance

KARACHI - The murder of a 16-year-old girl, who was allegedly stabbed to death while resisting a robbery bid in the city’s Malir area, took a new turn on Sunday when her elder sister confessed to killing her with her fiancé on the pretext of robbery.

Alina, 16, was stabbed to death and her elder sister, Alvina, 20, was injured while putting up resistance during a robbery attempt in their house in Malir within the jurisdiction of the Saudabad police station, according to the police’s earlier statement.

On Sunday, the police said it has made headway in the case as the deceased’s sister had confessed to killing her along with her fiancé Mazhar.

Alvina had injured herself with the knife to trick investigators into believing that the robbers injured her over resistance, the police said.

Alvina in her earlier statement had said that at least two armed men stormed their house and tried to loot gold ornaments and other valuables.

She said her younger sister offered resistance, dangling knife. The robbers snatched the knife from her and stabbed her to death. The knife-wielding man also attacked her when she tried to save her sister, she added.

In a press conference later, SSP Korangi Nauman Siddiqui praised the Saudabad SHO, DSP and SP for their pure police work, and not technology, which solved the case.

Siddiqui cautioned parents to monitor their children's use of mobile phones.
