Donald Trump and the downfall of the US Political system

US President Donald Trump never ceases to surprise us with his controversial statements. In his latest, he has alleged his predecessor Barack Obama of staging protest rallies in the country which marred the first few weeks of Trump’s presidency.

In an interview with Fox and Friends, a morning show on Fox News, which will air on Tuesday US time, Trump alleged that Obama and his administration were behind the leaks of classified information from the White House to the press.

The host of the show asked Trump if he thought Obama was behind the protests.

“I think he is behind it. I also think it’s just politics. That’s just the way it is,” Trump said in the pre-taped interview, a portion of which was released on Monday night, the Guardian reported.

Trump added, “You never know what’s exactly happening behind the scenes … I think that President Obama’s behind it because his people are certainly behind it.”

There is no evidence that Obama staged the protests, however Republicans and right wing media outlets have hurled allegations at him.

In the last few weeks Trump administration has faced angry protesters in town halls. Demonstrations against Trump’s travel ban have also been staged at various airports of the country.

It is rare for a president in office to criticize his predecessor while in office. But Trump apparently broke all unsaid rules, when he alleged the Obama administration of orchestrating leaks from the White House alleging that Trump aides had contacted Russian officials during the 2016 elections.

“Some of the leaks possibly come from that group,” Trump said in the interview.

“You know, some of the leaks – which are really very serious leaks because they’re very bad in terms of national security – but I also understand that’s politics and it will probably continue.”

Obama in a statement last month had opposed the travel ban by Donald Trump saying he disagrees over the notion of discriminating against people on the basis of faith or race.
