Death toll rises in Indian riots

In the Indian State of Haryana, at least twenty-five people were killed in riots at Panchkula town on Friday.

The violent protest erupted after the leader of a quasi-religious sect, Guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was declared guilty of disgracing two women followers in the state in the year 2002.

Supporters of the Gurmeet Singh attacked railway stations, petrol stations and television vans in towns across the northern states of Punjab and Haryana.

Protests were also erupted in New Delhi and in the neighboring state of Rajasthan.

Several people were also injured in the clashes.
