CPEC: Technical institutes to be established along CPEC route by China

ISLAMABAD (APP): China will help Pakistan in establishing state-of-the-art technical & vocational institutes at strategic nodes along the CPEC route including Gilgit, Mansehra, D.I.Khan, Abbottabad, Quetta and Gawadar.

It was stated in a meeting held here Tuesday under the chairmanship of the Executive Director NAVTTC, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema with a Chinese delegation from Yunnan Minzu University, China to promote cooperation and exchange in technical and vocational sector between both the countries.

The delegation comprised Duan Gang, Vice President of Yunnan Minzu University and Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party, China and Xiaoyin Yin.

Zulfiqar Cheema briefed the delegation about the role of National Vocational & Technical Education Commission as an advisory body to the federal government on TVET and the recent initiatives of NAVTTC to introduce reforms in the current TVET system of Pakistan including establishment of Job Placement Center and introducing Competency Based Training throughout the country.

The Executive Director emphasized that the CPEC would open new vistas of prosperity and development and offer enormous employment opportunities for the people of Pakistan.

He added that CPEC is a living reflection of a strong Pak-China bond and it will serve geo-strategic interests of both the countries.

He urged that the two countries should enhance their collaboration to reboot the TVET system in Pakistan.

He said that skilled youth is the most powerful tool for poverty alleviation and can play an important role in the socio-economic development of the country.

The delegation also visited National Training Bureau (NTB) and it was mutually agreed that NTB will be transformed into a Center of Excellence of international standard, with the help of China.

Duan Gang offered internship for Pakistani trainees in various vocational courses including event management, e-commerce, tourism, handicrafts and agriculture etc.

The delegation also extended its full cooperation in starting a teacher's training program, establishment of a research center at Islamabad, and upgrading the existing labs/equipment and institutes of Pakistan.
