COAS Raheel Sharif to visit Kabul in order to pave way for Afghanistan peace talks

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff Gen. Raheel Sharif will visit Afghanistan to discuss about the restoration of peace talks between Taliban and Afghan government. As per details, COAS Gen. Raheel Sharif will visit Afghanistan with high level delegation in the last week of December. The purpose of visit is to decide the date for the second phase of peace dialogues between Taliban and Afghanistan. Army Chief will meet with high officials including Afghan president Ashraf Ghani. The visit comes after Pakistan, Afghanistan, United States and China jointly discussed the proposal of resumption of peace dialogue in Afghanistan. The four countries had agreed on a political settlement in Kabul for long enduring peace in the region.
