China will not feature Indian allegations against Pakistan in Modi-Xi JinPing meeting: Foreign Ministry

BEIJING: China has reiterated that Pakistan is at the forefront of fighting terrorism and has rendered great sacrifices to achieve this objective.

“As we have said many times, Pakistan is at the forefront of fighting terrorism, and for many years has been making positive efforts and rendering great sacrifices on counterterrorism,” Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson Hua Chunying said during her press briefing on Thursday.

The spokesperson asked the international community to acknowledge and fully recognise Pakistan’s contributions to the efforts to defeat terrorism.

Ms Hua said China was willing to work with Pakistan and other countries to enhance cooperation on counterterrorism efforts to ensure regional security.

In reply to a question about the use of China’s influence for arrest of terrorists allegedly based in Pakistan, she said: “We have taken note of the concerns of the Indian side on counterterrorism issues of Pakistan, but I don’t believe that it should feature prominently during the Xiamen Summit,” she added.
