China keen to invest further in energy sector in Pakistan

LAHORE: (APP) Delegation of a Chinese energy sector company headed by Chinese Consul General Long Dingbin called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif here Wednesday and showed keen interest for investment in energy specifically transmission sector.

Welcoming the investment by Chinese companies, the Chief Minister said that Pakistan especially Punjab had provided a conducive environment for investors and Chinese company was encouraged for further investment for which every desired facility would be provided to them.

He said that Pakistan and China cherished a strong bond of friendship which had survived through the entire thick and thins also CPEC was an incredible gift of Chinese President to Pakistan which had opened the new gates of investment here.

Chinese President visited Pakistan in April 2015 and signed historical projects worth 46 billion dollars with Pakistan for which practical execution was commenced without wasting any time, he expressed, amongst them some of the projects had reached their climax and some were near their completion.

He proudly said that CPEC and other development projects were reshaping the history as being self-explanatory precedents of transparency and high speed. He said that grand vision of One Belt One Road would bring peace and prosperity in the region through economic stability. Sahiwal Coal Power Project of 1320 MW which was supposed to be completed by December 2017 would now be disposed by May/June 2017, six months earlier than the stipulated time, he added.

The Chief Minister said that undoubtedly this was an implausible achievement as there was no such example of completing development projects with such speed in Pakistan. He said that Pak-China economic cooperation under CPEC would be strengthened more through such investments and it would open up new opportunities for business and employment.

Head of Chinese Company at this occasion said that they were looking forward to promote cooperation in energy specially transmission sector.

Delegation of Chinese company Global Energy Interconnection Development & Corporation Organization (GEIDCO) included Chen Zhiqiang and other dignitaries.

Provincial Minister for Minerals Ch. Sher Ali, Chairman Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Limited Company Ch. Arif Saeed and Chairman Planning & Development were also present.
