Asif Zardari calls on Dr Tahirul Qadri, assures of his cooperation

LAHORE: Former president Asif Zardari has assured Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri of full cooperation during a meeting on Thursday.

Addressing the joint conference after the meeting on Thursday, Dr Tahirul Qadri said that the Justice Baqar Najafi Commission report had clearly declared Shahbaz Sharif a killer. “The report has rejected the false assumption that the police had come there to remove the barriers,” he said.

The PAT chief said that all the administration of the province was present in the June 16 meeting. “My political agenda was discussed in the meeting. All was done to block my efforts to block the dictatorship of Nawaz Sharif,” he maintained. “In the report, it has been stated that the barriers were erected three years ago and no one objected to it.”

He said that the statements of officers did not prove disengagement ordered issued by them. “The report is 100 percent conclusive,” he added.

Dr Tahirul Qadri said that the report had held Shahbaz Sharif and the Punjab government responsible for the bloodshed.

He said that Rana Sanaullah should surrender him to the police. “We will accept the decision whatever made by the law,” he added. “We will take every peaceful step for justice.”

Speaking on the occasion, Asif Zardari said that Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif will have to go now and face courts. “After the report, Shahbaz Sharif is incapable of holding the office of the chief minister. We stand with Dr Tahirul Qadri. We will extend help to Dr Sahib and seek help from him,” he said. “We cannot tolerate Shahbaz Sharif after the report on the Model Town tragedy.”

Asif Zardari said that they will stand with Allama Sahib in the container if he ordered to do so. “We have worked for democracy, not Mughal kingship,” he said.
