Arrest warrants to be issued against Sharif family for non appearance before NAB Court

ISLAMABAD: Arrest warrants can be issued for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar if the suspects continue to remain absent from NAB proceedings.

According to details, ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif is in London on a private visit to inquire after the health of his ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz. His sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz are also in London for the management of the family’s business affairs.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has also undertaken a private trip to London and will most definitely not be able to appear before the accountability court, which has summoned Dar on September 20. Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif and his sons have been summoned by the accountability court on September 19.

Maryam Nawaz has also flown to London to inquire after Kulsoom Nawaz’s health. Maryam had been busy campaigning for Kulsoom Nawaz in the highly publicised NA-120 elections.

After PML-N defeated PTI in the by-elections, Maryam is on her way to London with her husband Captain (r) Safdar.

With almost all members of the Sharif family in London as well as Mr Dar, it seems unlikely that they would appear before the accountability court on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to NAB authorities, if the Sharifs and Dar do not appear before the court, another summon can be sent to them.

In case of continuous absence from NAB proceedings, arrest warrants for the suspects will be issued.
