Amir Liaqat drops plan to join PTI at last moment

KARACHI: Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader and renowned TV anchor Dr Aamir Liaquat has dropped plan to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), ARY News reported.

According to sources, the anchorperson taken back his decision to join the PTI at the last minute after skipping a key press conference scheduled to announce his inclusion in the party.

A formal announcement had to be made in an important press conference today with PTI chief Imran Khan.  However, he skipped the presser.

Earlier, PTI Karachi leader Imran Ismail had told ARY News that a formal announcement would be made in a press conference with PTI chief Imran Khan at his residence.

Aamir Liaquat Hussain, who is also a renowned television celebrity, parted ways with MQM after party founder Altaf Hussain made a hate speech on August 22 speech in which he urged his supporters to raise anti-Pakistan slogans and attack media houses.

“I apologise again and again from Pakistan and people of Pakistan. Nothing is more important to me than Pakistan,” Aamir Liaquat told ARY News anchor Kashif Abbasi on August 23.
