AJK condemns India to impose ban on TV Channels in IOK

ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) chapter of Hurriyet forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly condemned the ban imposed by India on Islamic and news channels in Indian occupied Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Hurriyet at a meeting presided over by its Convener, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, in Islamabad said the ban on TV channels was against the international norms.
The meeting observed that the ban showed how Indian military establishment was treating the people of occupied Kashmir in the modern era of information technology.
Several TV channels including Pakistani and Saudi channels have gone off air in the Kashmir after the Indian government ordered cable networks to remove 34 channels from their platforms.
The meeting condemned Indian forces' firing of bullets and teargas shells on students, resulting into injuries to many students. A large number of students have also been arrested during the protests.
The forum leaders appealed to the international community to impress upon India to respect international human rights law in occupied Kashmir. The forum leaders who attended the meeting included Syed Yousaf Naseem, Manzoor-ul-Haq Butt, Syed Ejaz Rehmani and Mohammed Shafi Dar. (APP)
