Afghanistan requests Pakistani religious scholar for bringing peace with Afghan Taliban

NOWSHERA: Afghanistan government has once again asked for help from the Pakistani scholar Maulana Sami ul Huq who is considered to be the father and mentor of the Afghan Taliban movement in Afghanistan in the era of 90s.

Afghan Ambassador Dr Muhammad Umer Zakhilwal called on Jamiat Ulama-i-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq here on Tuesday and discussed with him relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Sources said that the Afghan envoy requested Maulana Sami to play his role in defusing tension between the two neighbours.

This was Dr Zakhilwal’s third meeting with the JUI-S chief over the past few months.

After the meeting, the JUI-S issued a press release in which it confirmed that the Afghan ambassador had sought Maulana Sami’s role in defusing tension between the two countries.
