Afghan Taliban claim killing 15 Army soldiers in an attack on Army Check-post

GHAZNI CITY: Three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed after the militants stormed a check-point in the Qarabagh district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Saturday.

Mohammad Arif Noori, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the insurgents attacked the ANA check-post in the Lewani Bazaar area of the district on Friday night.

He said as a result of the ensuing clash, three ANA soldiers and eight militants were killed. Two soldiers and 12 insurgents wounded. The Taliban retreated after the additional forces reached the site.

According to another security source, six army personnel were killed and four others wounded in the clash.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the fighters overran the check-post and inflicted casualties on 15 security personnel. However, he acknowledged the loss of only one rebel.
