British Parliamentarians to debate on Kashmir in Parliament

LAHORE: (APP) A seven-member British Parliamentary delegation led by Rehman Chishti called on National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq at the later's Zafar Ali Road residence here on Monday.
Various important matters especially the Kashmir issue came under discussion during the meeting.
The parliamentary delegation is visiting Pakistan on the special invitation by the National Assembly Speaker.
The British parliamentarians were Huddleston, Mark Pawsey, David Moris, Henery Smith, Methew Offord, Roystom Smith and Rehman Chishti while eminent politician Liaquat Baloch and former Punjab governor Khawaja Tariq Rahim were also present in the meeting.
Later, talking to media persons, the NA Speaker termed the meeting fruitful and productive, and said the visit of delegation would help consolidate, upgrade and expand close fraternal ties between the governments and the people of two countries.
He said that Pakistan was committed to strong and wide-ranging relations with the United Kingdom and the meetings would be instrumental in highlighting Pakistan's ongoing efforts to boost ties with Britain.
Speaking on the occasion, leader of British Parliamentary delegation Rehman Chishti said they had come to Pakistan to visit Muzaffarabad where they would have meeting with AJK Prime Minister and get updates regarding Kashmir situation.
"We will visit refugees camps and talk to refugees there," he added.
He said, they wanted that both Indian and Pakistan should settle Kashmir dispute at the earliest for a durable peace.
He said, they honour United Nations' resolutions on Kashmir and that's why they urged both sides to resolve the issue.
Upon return, he said, the delegation would hold debate on Kashmir issue in the British Parliament. He said, during their stay in Islamabad, they would discuss issues like security, trade and tourism with higher authorities concerned.
