Pakistan's Largest Solar Power Plant inaugurated

ATTOCK: (APP) Rana Tanveer Hussain Federal Minister for Defense Production Tuesday inaugurated Solar Power Plant set up at POF Sanjwal.

With generation capacity of 5.04 MW it is the largest solar plant in any industrial unit in the country. The power generated by the plant will be utilized in the Factory which will fulfill 50 percent requirement of POF.

The surplus power generation will be injected in the national grid on basis of Net-Metering after working hours of the Factory.

Talking to media, the Minister remarked that POF’s efforts towards self- sufficiency in power sector by setting up the Solar Power Plant at Sanjwal was appreciable and a big achievement.

He expressed the hope that other defense production organizations would follow the footsteps of POF as solar power is a cheap source of energy and will not only help in reduce cost of production but also give uninterrupted power. Moreover, it will reduce load on the national grid besides being environment friendly.

The Solar Power Plant has been designed, installed & commissioned by M/s. HBKCS Hong Kong and completed two months ahead of scheduled time.

Lt Gen Omar Mahmood Hayat Chairman POF Board, Lt Gen (R) Syed Muhammad Awais Secretary MoDP & senior officers of Pakistan Ordnance Factories were also present on the occasion.
