PEMRA issues show cause notice to private TV Channel on false news

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Thursday issued a show cause notice to NEO TV for airing the wrong photo of Chief Justice Sindh High Court (CJSHC) along with the news of the death of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Sajjad Ali Shah.
PEMRA has asked NEO TV to submit a reply till March 13, to explain why the news and photo were aired without verifying facts, said a press release.
After airing of the wrong photo, the registrar of the Sindh High Court filed an official complaint with PEMRA requesting the regulatory authority to take action against the channel.
The Regulatory Authority has directed the management of the NEO TV to submit a reply to the show-cause notice by the given date or the matter shall be proceeded ex parte in accordance with the PEMRA laws.
