Dastgir terms Pakistan an attractive destination for foreign investors

Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan says Pakistan offers immense opportunities for investment and trade.

He was addressing representatives of Pakistani diaspora in Belgium on Tuesday.

The Minister said that an era of stability and socio economic development has begun.

He said macroeconomic and structural reforms and improved security have played an important role in country's economic growth.

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced a package of incentives of 180 billion rupees to boost exports.

The Minister said Bloomberg has ranked Pakistan Stock Exchange as the fifth best performing exchange in the world and best in Asia.

He said travel advisories on Pakistan are being revised the world over and as a result foreign investors have started to return to Pakistan.

Khurram Dastgir said Pakistan has one of the most attractive investment regimes in the world, allowing foreign investors 100 percent repatriation of profits and easy convertibility into foreign exchange.

Khurram Dastgir urged overseas Pakistanis to play a role in improving the image of their country as each one of them is an ambassador of Pakistan.

Talking to senior officials of European Commission and members of European Parliament in Belgium on Tuesday, Khurram Dastgir Khan said focus of Pakistan has now shifted towards strengthening its economy through trade rather than aid.

The Minister accentuated correlation of economic progress with peace and stability of any country and said that economic and social indicators are on the rise in Pakistan.
