Islamabad High Court seeks report on missing person

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Islamabad High Court (IHC), Friday sought complete investigation report conducted by joint investigation team (JIT) in the matter of enforced disappearance of Information Technology expert Sajid Mehmood.

Justice Athar Minallah resumed hearing of the plea moved by IT expert's wife Mehra Sajid challenging alleged abduction of her husband from her home in F-10/1.

During the course of proceedings, Umar Ijaz Gilani counsel for the petitioner said the abducted person was a father of three girls, adding he went missing from his residence on March 14, 2016 and since then no one was there to look after his family members.

Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) CIA appeared before the court and stated that SP investigation who was head of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) was on leave and due to his leave no progress could be made in the investigation.

The bench directed DSP CIA to convey the message to head of the JIT to submit progress report on the matter till January 27.

The petitioner cited secretaries of Defence and Interior Ministries, Inspector General of the Islamabad police, intelligence agencies and the Shalimar Police Station SHO as respondents in the petition.
