NAB arrests senior Officers over corruption charges

PESHAWAR: (APP) National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday arrested District Account Officer, Assistant Treasury Officer, Senior Auditor and Sub Accountant of District Accounts Office, Battagram on charges of corruption and misuse of authority.
The arrested were accused of alleged involvement in corruption and misuse of authority incurring huge losses to government exchequer. The accused were identified as Muhammad Ayaz District Account Officer, Tariq Mehmood Assistant Treasury Officer and Aurangzeb Senior Auditor and Muhammad Hamid Younis Sub-Accountant of District Account Office.
During the course of investigation it was revealed that accused persons in league with each other illegally generated 42 fake personnel numbers of non-existing, fake and ghost employees of Education Department Battagram and drawn salaries worth millions of rupees and embezzled the same.
The accused person will be presented before the Accountability Court Peshawar for obtaining physical remand.
