FBR extends Income tax returns filing date

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) here on Friday extended the date for filing income tax returns for the fiscal year 2016-17 till October 31 to facilitate the tax payers in the country.

A statement issued by FBR said, Minister for Finance Mohammad Ishaq Dar has directed the FBR for extending the due date for filing of income tax returns by salaried persons, individual, association of persons and companies till October 31, 2016.

The minister extended the date in view of Eid-ul-Adha holidays falling in the month of September and the fact that a number of taxpayers and their consultants were in Saudi Arabia for performance of Hajj, it added.

The taxpayers accordingly could not find ample time for filing their tax returns, the statement said.
Therefore, in the spirit of taxpayers' facilitation, the due date of filing of tax returns and statements has been extended, it said.
