3G, 4G users in Pakistan till August 1

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The surpassing of 10 million 3G subscribers mark by Mobilink has enhanced an overall mobile broadband base in the country which reached 32 million users.

The 3G and 4G users reached 32 million at end of July 2016 as mobile phone companies added a total of 2.2 million new 3G and 4G users to their networks during the reported month.

Mobilink has also become the first Telco to have 20 million data subscribers (both on 2G and 3G) throughout Pakistan.

In the month of July 2016, Mobilink managed to add a total of 0.6 million 3G subscribers to its initial tally of 9.5 million.

During the same period, the Telco added a total of 0.9 million data subscribers to take the total tally to 20 million.

The latest data ensures that Mobilink remains the market leader in terms of voice and 3G subscriber base.

Director Data and Devices, Mobilink on Wednesday said to power more than 10 million 3G subscribers is a wonderful achievement and a testament to exemplary services we aim to offer.

He said since launch of its 3G services, the Telco has embarked on a journey to build the largest 3G network across the country and up till now, it has rolled out its mobile broadband in more than 300 cities and towns.

According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, Mobilink alone added 1.2 million new 3G users on its network while Zong added another half million 3G users during the month.

Total number of 3G users by end of July 2016 stood at 30.62 million while 4G users reached 1.16 million by the time.
