OIC condemns Indian HR abuses in Occupied Kashmir

Organization of Islamic Cooperation Contact Group on Kashmir has unequivocally condemned Indian human rights abuses in Occupied Kashmir.     

The group met with OIC Secretary General Yousef Al-Othaimeen in the chair in Jeddah.

Those who attended the meeting included Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the Turkish Foreign Minister, the Deputy Foreign Minister Azerbaijan and senior representatives of Saudi Arabia and Niger.

Addressing the meeting, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Jammu and Kashmir remains the oldest dispute on the UN agenda.  Generations of Kashmiris have seen promises made with them repeatedly broken and their dreams shattered.

Referring to the gross Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir, he said that in the aftermath of Pulwama incident, Kashmiris have been targeted by Hindu extremists with increased frequency.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said when Kashmiri youth take to the streets, it is manifestation of their deep seated disillusionment and alienation from India.    

He said Pakistan expects the OIC contact group to reiterate its call for sending OIC facing finding mission to investigate the gross violations of human rights.

He said we expect the OIC Contact Group to unequivocally reaffirm its abiding support for the Kashmiris and their struggle for right to self-determination.

Addressing the meeting of OIC Contact Group, OIC Secretary General, Dr. Yousef Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, expressed deep concern over the grave situation in occupied Kashmir.

He called for an immediate cessation of Indian oppression and atrocities in the territory and urged India to peacefully resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiri people and the UN Security Council Resolutions.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister of Turkey said that the resolution of the lingering dispute of Jammu and Kashmir is important for peace and development in South Asia.

The members of the OIC Contact Group expressed their complete solidarity with the valiant struggle of the Kashmiri people. They reaffirmed their resolve to remain the voice of the Kashmiris at the international stage.

The AJK President, Sardar Masood Khan, briefed the members about the continued oppressive policies of Indian troops in occupied Kashmir. He commended the OIC’s support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle for securing their right to self-determination.
