UN calls for investigation into martyrdom of 16 Palestinians

The United Nations Security Council has called for an investigation into the martyrdom of 16 protesting Palestinians along the Ghaza-Israeli border.

Speaking in Security Coucil in New York today, Deputy Political Affairs Chief of the world body Taye-Brook Zerihoun said the civilians; particularly children should not be targeted.

While expressing concern over violence in Gaza, the Security Council also urged Israel to uphold its responsibilities under international human rights and humanitarian law.

Earlier, Israeli security forces had killed sixteen Palestinians during protests at the Gaza-Israeli border.

Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for an independent and transparent investigation into Palestinian deaths at Gaza border yesterday.
