PM Election: Who are the 5 candidates in the run

PML (N) leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and five members of the opposition parties have filed nomination papers for election of leader of the house.     

On this occasion, he was accompanied amongst others by former Ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Abdul Qadir Baloch, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Sheikh Aftab, Saira Afzal Tarar, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and PML (Z) leader Ejaz-ul-Haq.

Others who submitted their nomination papers included PPP's Khurshid Shah and Naveed Qamar, PTI's candidate Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, Jamaat-e-Islami's Sahibzada Tariqullah and MQM's Kishwar Zahra.

The scrutiny of the papers by the speaker national assembly is in progress.

Meanwhile, talking to the media persons at the parliament house, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that he will take forward the development agenda of the party.

He said the country is faced with many challenges and their efforts will be aimed at steering the country out of them.

Earlier, the PML (N) held a consultative meeting at the parliament house and discussed matters pertaining to the election of the leader of the house.
