Islamabad: United States top envoy Zalmay Khalilzad held important meeting with COAS General Qamar Bajwa.United States (US) Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad called on Chief of the Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), US Special Representative Zalmay Khalilzad met COAS today during his day-long visit in Islamabad.
The two sides discussed regional security situation along with Afghan peace process.
Khalilzad also praised Pakistan’s role in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Earlier today, the Special Representative met Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Islamabad where the two sides discussed progress on afghan peace process along with regional security situation.
The US special envoy will fly back to the United States tonight.
U.S. and Taliban were close to reaching a deal last year when US President Donald Trump halted the talks, following the death of a U.S. soldier and 11 other people in a Taliban bomb attack in Kabul.
