Iraq-Jordon border opens after years

The main border crossing between Jordan and Iraq reopens on Wednesday for the first time since 2015.

According to Jordanian Interior Minister Ghaleb-al-Zubi, the opening of the crossing is of great importance to Jordan and Iraq as it is a crucial artery between the two countries.

Officials said that customs and border arrangements at the crossing have been finalized, whereas strict security measures have been adopted to ensure safety of the 550 km highway from the Jordan border to Iraqi capital Baghdad.
